Launchpad Supports More Yorkshire Artists Looking To Build A Career In Music

Launchpad have chosen a further 11 artists from across the Yorkshire region to receive tailored industry advice, funding and live opportunities. Supported projects are to be announced next week.

Twice a year, Launchpad invites applications for targeted support for emerging artists, musicians, producers, bands, composers and music professionals in the Yorkshire region. In the latest round, there is support for a range of artists and projects including a contemporary folk musician, an alternative rap artist, a jazz collective, a shoegaze/dreampop band, an artist development and management collective and an on-location sound and video company.

Since 2019, Launchpad has supported over 100 emerging artists, new music projects and aspiring industry professionals Projects have included music managers, events organisers, record labels, and publishers. Launchpad support includes tailored advice from a host of music industry experts including; record label heads, university lecturers, accredited coaches, music journalists, award-winning artists, festival directors, PR agency heads, BBC radio presenters, managers, digital content producers, and TV and film synchronisation agency heads.

The support programme works hard to reach, select and support a diverse representation across music genres and communities and is proud to be a Fair Access Principles Partner. This is a commitment to Sound and Music’s Fair Access Principles which are designed to act as a code of best practice for running successful, open and inclusive artist development programmes, competitions and awards. Launchpad has also taken the Keychange Pledge. Keychange is a global network and movement working towards a total restructure of the music industry in reaching full gender equality. Keychange consists of partners collaborating from 12 different countries, working proactively to make this change.

Launchpad is delivered by Music Local, and is supported by Youth Music, with public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England, as well as arts@leeds, Leeds City Council, Awesome Merchandise and PRS Foundation's Talent Development Partnership supported by PPL.
