Awen Ensemble
Awen Ensemble are a Leeds based contemporary jazz collective. The 7 piece outfit take inspiration from modal tradition, spiritual jazz, and folk music from across the globe, creating compositions that are melodically focused and groove driven. Featuring a vibraphone, spoken word and a Celtic mystique, Awen Ensemble bring a unique offering to the jazz table.
Awen Ensemble have played multiple sold out shows at Brudenell Social Club in their home town. Other notable performances to date are We Out Here 2021, Billy Cobham support at The Blues Kitchen (Manchester), and Sunday Vibrations hosted at The Standard London by Total Refreshment Centre.
In July, the band are looking forward to gigs at Peggy’s Skylight (July 14th), as well as a performance on Chai Wallahs (Kendal Calling - 29th of July). In August, Awen Ensemble will partake in the Summer Studios residential at The Sage, Newcastle. In the Autumn, the band will be performing across the country launching some of their new music.
