Korda Marshall

In 1983 Korda joined RCA records as a coffee maker, tape copier and talent scout, eventually becoming A&R Director of the label in 1988 and counted The Blow Monkeys, The Wedding Present, Pop Will Eat Itself, The Primitives, Londonbeat and Take That amongst his signings .  

Departing RCA in 1993 he launched Infectious Records, which eventually merged with Michael Gudinski’s Australian music company Mushroom Records.  After initial success with Peter Andre and Garbage, Korda signed Ash (then aged 15), Muse (then aged 17), Paul Oakenfold and Perfecto Records.

Later expanding the company with label deals for a young Max Lousada’s label Ultimate Dilemma which brought in Zero 7 and James Murdoch’s New York hip hop label Rawkus Records encompassing Mos Def and Company Flow.

Mushroom was then acquired by the Warner Music Group in 2003. As part of this acquisition, Korda became Managing Director of the company’s Atlantic Records label, a division of Warner’s, where he signed The Darkness and James Blunt among others, before taking over as MD at Warner Music in 2004 overseeing the careers of Madonna, Green Day, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and signing artists including Gnarls Barkley, The Foals, The Enemy, Pendulum and Seasick Steve. 

Korda re-launched Infectious Music as a privately owned, cutting edge, independent music company in February 2009 with a strong focus on new contemporary artists embracing the new digital environment .  The label has a roster of ten artists, The Temper Trap, alt-J, Local Natives, These New Puritans, Drenge, Superfood, DZ Deathrays, Ry X and The Acid.

In September 2014 Korda sold Infectious to BMG, the Berlin based media company and now runs their front line record company in London. To date he has overseen the signings of Band of Skulls, James, Kylie Minogue, Blondie, Ash, Morrissey & Cabbage to BMG and The DMA’s, The Sherlocks and Ry X solo record to Infectious.

He has recently resigned his role as Chairman of the OCC (Official Chart Company) having navigated the transition of streaming into the single and album charts. He also sits on various boards including The BPI and The BRITS Trust and is the non-executive chairman of Papa Productions which produces a very successful show called “Raiding the Rock Vault” at The Tropicana in Las Vegas.
