Yvette is Co-Chief Exec of award-winning Black led not-for-profit Jazz re:freshed
Yvette co-launched the game changing international initiative, JAZZ RE:FRESHED OUTERNATIONAL placing a global spotlight onto the young, culturally diverse and female talent bubbling away in the UK Jazz scene and turned what was the underground element of UK Jazz into the mainstream and sought after sound with success stories including Nubya Garcia, Shabaka Hutchings and Moses Boyd.
Co-founder of GiveBLACK and Black Funding Network, Yvette’s is focusing on galvanising philanthropic giving for Black not for profit organisations .
For her work in contributing to changing the trajectory and profile of British Jazz, Yvette was awarded the H100 Award for Services to Music in 2019.
Celebrating 20 years in 2023, not for profit Jazz re:freshed is a small but relentlessly determined organisation. The core of their mission is to globally elevate, amplify and spotlight the breadth of expression in UK Jazz, while breaking down the boundaries for culturally diverse audiences to access the music.
The Jazz re:freshed team work on supporting, developing and promoting young and or diverse emerging artists and bands across multiple platforms, raising their profile, facilitating pivotal career step changes while creating an audience and industry buzz through their weekly live residency, annual one day festival, band development programs, DJ Club nights, multiple partnerships, international showcasing and their award winning not for profit ‘first release’ record label. Jazz re:freshed’s focus has always been and will continue to be keeping the UK Jazz scene as vibrant and fresh as possible.
