Ysabelle Wombwell (LEVEL Project Lead - LEVEL @ Young Thugs)

Ysabelle is musician, music producer and facilitator who has been working in Hull within the arts and in youth work for the last 12 years. She is also a child of Deaf parents, a British Sign Language user and solo parent of Jamaican and British Heritage.

Ysabelle is currently leading on women’s studio placement project LEVEL at Young Thugs Studio York. She is also Inclusion Associate for production company ARCADE Scarborough and Voice and Influence worker for Hull City Council. Previous clients and employers include, Deafinitely theatre London, Scarborough Musuems trust, Freedom Festival and The Warren youth Project Hull.

Ysabelle is one of the founders of the Black Heritage Collective, a representative body and consultative partner for people of Black Heritage in Hull and is a founding member of Make Noise, an organisation working to improve safety and visibility of marginalised genders in Hull’s music industry.

LEVEL is a Youth Music funded music production project, offering women and non binary people paid placements at Young Thugs studio.

Young Thugs provide a platform for music and creativity across the North by helping to create a wide range of music with the most interesting acts around. Based out of South Bank Social Club in York, they put creativity at the heart of everything they do to promote wider involvement in music and the arts. Collaborating with a wide range of people and organisations, they are recognised on a regional and national level.
