Yorkshire Young Musicians
Yorkshire Young Musicians provides inclusive, high quality music education for promising young musicians aged 8 – 18. Through specialist 1:1 instrumental and vocal tuition and individually tailored musical training, YYM students develop and expand their musical skills and aspirations across a wide range of genres and traditions.
YYM takes place weekly on Sundays in Leeds and Hull. A typical day includes up to 1 hour principal study tuition (options including Western and South Asian Classical instrumental and vocal, jazz and composition), 30 minutes second study tuition, ensemble and two or three enrichment options, such as theory, composition, improvisation, Dalcroze, production or musicianship.
YYM is a Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) in music, supported by the Department for Education’s Music & Dance Scheme. Grants are available to support all who can benefit to access specialist tuition, regardless of means, social or ethnic background or disability.
