Albemarle Chamber Ensemble

Albemarle Chamber Ensembles (ACE) provides the opportunity for advanced players to work together in small chamber groups. 

Fridays 6pm – 7pm

 

Hull Youth Jazz Orchestra

The Jazz Orchestra welcomes players of approximately Grade 5+ standard to explore the rich history and tradition of Big Band Music as well developing aural skills, harmony knowledge and improvisation. Although traditionally the instruments featured are Trumpets, Trombones, Saxophones and Rhythm Section (Piano, Bass, Drums, Guitar, Percussion) they are able to accommodate any instrument if young musicians want to come along and explore all things Jazz!

Thursdays 6.30pm – 8.30pm

 

Albemarle Percussion Ensemble

The Albemarle Percussion Ensemble is a senior group for players of grade 5 + standard. 

Mondays 5.30pm -6.30pm

 

Albemarle Wind Band

Albemarle Wind Band play a wide range of music from popular, jazz and film scores to more traditional and contemporary wind band music. They welcome all brass, wind and percussion players who are working at grade 4 level and above.

Mondays 7.30pm – 9pm

 

Albemarle Choir

Albemarle Choir is a mixed singing group for Key Stage 2 (Year 3) upwards. Their experienced choir leaders will teach you some well-known pop and theatre favourites as well as classical pieces and works by local composers.

Wednesdays 5.30pm – 7pm

 

Albemarle Youth Orchestra

The Albemarle Youth Orchestra is for senior string, woodwind, brass and percussion players of grade five standard and above.

Fridays 7.30pm – 9pm

 

City of Hull Youth Band

The City of Hull Band has now begun a partnership with The Hull Music Service and are hoping to encourage and develop a new generation of brass players to continue the heritage of the brass band movement in the area.

Wednesday 6.15pm – 7.15pm

 

Elementary Strings

In the Elementary String Orchestra, players develop their ability to follow the conductor and to listen each other in order to play well together as an orchestra.

Thursdays 4.30pm – 5.30pm

 

Training Percussion Ensemble

Training Percussion Ensemble is our first percussion group, players learn to play the steel pans.

Monday 4.30pm – 5.30pm

 

Junior Youth Orchestra

The Junior Youth Orchestra has string, woodwind, brass and percussion pupils of grade three standard.

This ensemble gives pupils their first opportunity to play in a full symphony orchestra working on an exciting mixture of classical, film, popular and modern pieces, culminating in concert performances at the end of each term.

Junior Wind Band

Junior Wind Band is for wind, brass and percussion players who are grade 1 to 3 standard. Develop your ensemble playing skills through learning a wide range of music and having lots of fun!

Monday Mayhem

Sing, Make, Play Music!

Monday Mayhem is for anyone learning a wind, brass or percussion instrument and for those who love to sing. 

For Year 3 and above

Mondays 4.30pm – 5.30pm

 

Funk and Soul Band

Our Funk and Soul Band brings together students to perform Soul and Funk music from the 1960s to the present day.  They play music from Stax Records, Mowtown and artists including Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Sam and Dave and many more.

Playing in the band allows students to develop rehearsal discipline, performance skills, chart reading and gain an understanding of what it is like to be a gigging musician.  They have a range of upcoming gigs and some studio recording sessions planned.

The band consists of a rhythm section, percussion section, brass section and vocal harmony section.

Training strings is for string players of around grade 1-3 standard. They play a wide range of music from popular, film and traditional string music.

ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA

The HEROS Orchestra was set up to give additional half-term and holiday opportunities for young people to participate in orchestral music projects and activities.
Originally a partnership between Hull and East Riding Youth Orchestras (hence HEROS) this partnership has been extended to include young musicians from North Lincolnshire and North-East Lincolnshire (the Humber Estuary Region – so it’s still HEROS!)
The orchestra is also run in partnership with our local Centre for Advanced Training:

Who can join?

Orchestral players in full time education from our region: Hull, East Riding, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire and members of Yorkshire Young Musicians
This includes players up to 21 at college or university.
Grade V or above

Cost: Free
