Emma Thompson

Director - From the Other (sounds from the other city, Fat Out, Samarbeta)

Emma is the creative director of From the Other, the new home to three Salford organisations Fat Out, Samarbeta Music Residency & Sounds from the Other City.

Emma founded Fat Out in 2008 and has been a passionate champion of the underground scene for over 15 years, programming a combination of challenging, experimental and heavy music. She is passionate about platforming queer noise makers and gives artists space to experiment and collaborate at welcoming events for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Emma co-founded the Samarbeta residency program with Riv Burns in 2014. Samarbeta is an innovative way to progress and encourage the production of new and adventurous music bringing musicians together to collaborate in a way they haven't before.

Emma is also part of the core team who delivers Supernormal Festival; a three-day, experimental arts and music festival taking place at Braziers Park, Oxfordshire, working as part of the Art programming team.
