Vivienne Gaskin (Senior Lecturer, Music Industries Management - Leeds Beckett University)
Vivienne's career started in the arts as a curator and Director of Live and Digital Art at Londons ICA (Institute for Contemporary Arts) where she focussed on blending high and low culture to provide points of access and mediation.
She pioneered a programme of cultural club nights, moving the gallery into the night economy and blending film, visual art, spoken word, live music and dance with a range of collaborators including Scanner, raya, Mark Webber (Pulp) and Sneaker Pimps.
From 2007 - 2011 she founded and ran an artist agency 'Vivienne Gaskin Cultural Management Ltd' with a range of clients including KMA, John Squire (Stone Roses) and Edwin Collins. Vivienne has taught at universities from 1997 across curating, arts management (Birkbeck), Entertainment management and now Music Industries Management (Leeds Beckett University).
As well as a centre for creative exploration and growth, Leeds School of Arts is a focus for the cultural life of the city itself. Leeds is undergoing a renaissance, driven by a booming creative sector and galvanised by the arrival of major players such as Channel 4. The Leeds School of Arts building ensures our creative practitioners and students are uniquely placed, not just to benefit from Leeds' flourishing creative landscape, but to add their own creative energy to the transformation of the city.
