Rebel Elements (Record Label)

As a freelance musician, Yorkshire producer Sam Hobbs has worked alongside numerous major and independent labels over the years. As the industry has evolved, the business models provided by labels are less and less viable for both artists and producers, thus inspiring Hobbs to build a label structure that specifically benefits the artists and collaborators involved.
Rebel Elements is a label dedicated to the exploration and evolution of ‘rebel music’ in all its forms; rebel music defined by Hobbs as being any project with an innovative and conscious intention. Having spent the past 20 years working with a broad scope of forward-thinking, world-class musicians based in Yorkshire, Hobbs’ extensive network of collaborators include Keeley Forsyth, Matthew Bourne, Roller Trio, Kefaya, Amon Tobin, Paban Das, Omar Puente, Keith Tippett, LSK, ATA Records, J Frisco, and Rafe's
Dilemma, among others. Hobbs’ work has a reputation for excellence, having garnered support from press and radio such as Pitchfork, BBC 3, and 4, the Guardian, The Independent, the Washington Post and the New Statesman, with multiple projects championed by BBC6’s Mary Anne Hobbs.
Hobbs currently has a large backlog of completed albums from various folk, reggae, experimental, jazz, and Indian folk projects based in Yorkshire which he plans to release through Rebel Elements.
