VERA SACRUM (Emily Marks) is a producer and multi-instrumentalist from Sheffield.
After attracting support from BBC Introducing in Sheffield for her acoustic-based songs, Emily decided to embark on a new musical turn as VERA SACRUM after dreaming up the name one day in Vienna - a project to make a space for her homegrown love of both electronic and classical music.
Refusing to speak one language, VERA SACRUM, blends elements from electronic and classical music to create a dark and intimate sound. Hypnotic cello textures are wound round icy synths and layered vocals. VERA SACRUM explores the vulnerability of relationships in the digital age; the fleeting moments that haunt us as memories immortalised in binary. Abstract and introspective lyrics meet classical cello and minimal production.
