Scotton Drive
Scotton Drive are a lo-fi electronica trio based in the northlands of Yorkshire. Together they create ambient melodic soundscapes by combining the pure folk inspired vocals of Astrid Walker with David Littler’s glitched beats, music boxes, live sampling and field
recordings and Julian Walker’s melodic guitars and synths.
Originally a solo project for sound artist David Littler, the trio formed in 2019 and have self-released two singles “Short Loop” and “Fasca”. These were recorded at Stiuidio Ostaig, Isle of Skye with producer Hector MacInnes.
Their music has been played on BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson show and on BBC Introducing York & North Yorkshire (YNY), where “Fasca" was chosen as the Track of the Week, being described as "weird and wonderful". It also featured on the first BBC Introducing "Working From Home” Mix on BBC Sounds. In February 2020 they recorded an "In Session” for Jericho Keys’ BBC Introducing YNY Show.
"What they do is difficult to define. It takes elements from all over the place, different sounds and makes something unique. There is a beauty in the music that shines through, a gentle beauty.” Local Sound Focus.
"Scotton Drive’s ability to play around with light and deep textures at the same time as throwing you rhythmically off-balance with glitchy breakbeats and still leave you hooked within the mix is a testament to their talent.” ANR Factory.
