Hang Linton

Hang Linton is a self-taught, interdisciplinary artist with a political and DIY approach, working in music, performance, video, and installation. Their art is a rebellion against clean aesthetics and working underneath capitalist structures which demand high output. Hang is inspired by nature, cartoons, video games, children, animals, and dreams, all of which are immersive and encourage unlimited freedom and expression of self. Community and collaboration are integral to their work. Their practice explores otherness and lived experience through sound. After cutting their teeth in Berlin across multiple projects and collectives, Hang is ready to ignite on home soil and create waves across the UK.

Upcoming Projects:

Hang has recently been selected as part of ‘The Big 10’ by NME & Squarespace. Hang’s project, Unboxed, is an event series that celebrates Black, Brown and marginalised global majority artists across the arts and alternative subcultures. The aim; build connections and community, break down barriers and amplify voices.

In 2021 Hang will participate in the SSW x Counterflows Caregivers Residency (August 2021), Cove Park’s experimental film and Artist moving image Residency with Alchemy & LUX (September 2021), perform at SPILL Festival with Laura Lulika (October 2021) and release singles from their debut EP.

Hang will also be attending a residency at Wysing Arts Centre (Spring 2022), focusing on accessible broadcasting with the collective Sickness Affinity Group.
