Netherlands-born, Sheffield-based artist and freelancer who likes to overthink bios.
LIO creates alt-pop FFO Florence and the Machine and The National. With their eclectic sound and powerful live performances, they have supported high-profile acts such as Orchards, Self Esteem, Skinny Pelembe, Our Girl and While She Sleeps.
2019 saw a Tramlines Festival debut on T’Other Stage, second sold-out Sheffield headliner and an LA Music Video Awards ‘Best Dance Video’ Nomination for ‘Growing Pains’. ‘Burn’, LIO’s third single, was added to the BBC Introducing Hot List and the BBC Introducing Sheffield Top 50 Tracks of 2019. Steve Lamacq recently included ‘Burn’ in his BBC Radio 6 Music Show as part of their Independent Venue Week special.
This year, LIO was longlisted in the Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition and is working hard on the release of their debut EP, recorded at Steel City Studio and supported by the Help Musicians UK Do It Differently Fund.
