Izzy Hobbs

Izzy is a guitarist, guitar teacher and event promoter based in Leeds. Since moving to Leeds, Izzy has founded two event platforms; ‘Groovy Shoes’ and ‘Girls Can Play Guitar’.

Girls Can Play Guitar is a Leeds based platform that is dedicated to tackling the underrepresentation of female and non-binary musicians in the spotlight and working behind the scenes in the music industry, through organising live shows and online features for women and people of marginalized genders to share their music, and experiences. Launched in 2020, Girls Can Play Guitar have received support from Come Play With Me, BBC Introducing, Yorkshire Evening Post, Bloom Sessions, Oporto, and Leeds Conservatoire.

In addition to organising gigs, Izzy regularly gigs with her own bands and projects.
