Dr Melissa Avdeeff is a Lecturer in Digital Media and Musicologist at the University of Stirling. Her research examines how people perceive and use emerging AI technologies in the production of popular music. Her current work looks at the debates and conversations about AI music across social media platforms, and how this speculation is filtering into mainstream perceptions of AI and creativity. She has recently published papers on AI popular music and the audio uncanny valley; Taylor Swift and LGBTQ+ allyship on social media; and Lil Nas X as a case study emerging pathways for music success on TikTok.
