Recently appointed CEO of Tyneside Independent Cinema & Arts Venue in the heart of Newcastle after Leaving her role as the Strategic Lead for UK City of Culture, Policy & Events for Bradford Council leading the successful Bid for UK City of Culture 2025 & the bid to bring Brit School to the North. As part of my role I also developed a district wide grant programme with a major new festivals programme, Heritage Action Plan and a new Screen Strategy which led to the development of The Unit, a new screen talent hub in partnership with Channel 4.
Nic previously was external relations director at East Street Arts. During her five years with the organisation, she built the reputation of East Street Arts from local hidden gem to a nationally respected artist-led organisation.
Spearheading the development of the UK’s first social enterprise Art Hostel, which attracted more than 10,000 artists, travellers and visitors in its first year of trading, grew the international visitors to the city by 16% and acted as a catalyst for regeneration encouraging the start-up of five new independent businesses in the area. The following year saw the creation of the City Less Grey public art programme bringing together the Business Improvement District, local authority, landowners, developers and artists to create major new art installations, some of which launched the careers of now global art collectives.
After graduating University as a mature student, she set up Arts - Stra an arts management company delivering a range of strategic arts projects and policies for major clients including Screen Yorkshire, University of Leeds, and Yorkshire Forward. The portfolio including feasibility studies, research programmes, education projects and artistic commissions. Alongside regular commissions and briefs from clients we commissioned our projects exploring the areas of collaboration across cultural sectors from music and film to visual arts and theatre, working alongside partners including UKTI, Channel 4 and Festival Republic. Our work with partners helped to draw down more than £2m into the region’s creative and cultural industries and led a Yorkshire wide delegation to SXSW show
