Kate Lowes is Head of Programmes at Brighter Sound a music development organisation that works across the North and internationally linking research, strategy, and delivery to support the music creators and industry professionals of the future. As part of this work Brighter Sound is also the sector lead for Manchester Music City.
Kate has worked in music for over 20 years and has recently completed a PhD at the University of Manchester researching the gender gap in the British Music industry. Kate’s research is practice-based and connected to her development of a regional initiative which runs across the North of England to support early career artists and industry leaders while campaigning for change with regards to equality in music.
